The 2011 conditions, as challenging as they were, resulted in grapes with beautiful concentrated flavours. Yields were down, but winemakers were generally very pleased with the quality of the grapes.
The grapes where 100% hand picked in the refreshing hours of the early morning from four premium wine regions: 50% Stellenbosch, 32% Durbanville, 14% Darling and 4% Franschhoek. This combination brings the unique flavours from each region in full harmony.
The grapes did not receive any skin contact and where gently pressed. Fermentation lasted almost 3 weeks at 12°C with 4% of the wine having been fermented in new French oak barrels for 3 weeks. Then it was left on primary lees for 6 weeks post fermentation.
Appellation Western Cape
Tasting Notes Our Coastal Cuvée is rich in tropical fruit flavours. These are underpinned by layers of blackcurrant, gooseberry and nettle. Well balanced and complex, it finishes long, with concentrated fruit and fresh, crisp acidity.
