This wine, with first vintage of 2003 and released in July 2004, was the first Tempranillo in South Africa. The grape variety is well-known in the Rioja region in Spain.
Grapes for making this wine were from the low yield vineyards with 10-year old vines planted on very poor clay soil. It had spent 24 hours for skin contact before fermentation, then pressed at 3° Balling. After malolactic fermentation, it was wooded for 8 months with 25% American Oak and 75% French Oak.
Cellarmaster Notes This full-bodied wine has creamy-rich and fruit flavours with a seductive silky finish. Ideal accompaniment to smoked carpaccio, springkok and poultry dishes.
